Today I talked with two colleagues about doing documentaries. VJ and I have already talked about doing something about Filippina maids in Hong Kong. His wife, Asha works with a group of maids after church every Sunday. They have some incredible stories to tell about why they had to leave their children and husbands to come to Hong Kong to work. This will involve interviewing some of these women and going to their homes in the Philippines.

 

The other idea is to do a story on work being done in Vietnam with the rural poor. This is a micro loan program that is really working. A family is given a cow. From the milk they are able to repay the loan and rise out of poverty.

 

I’d like to do both of these documentaries by June 2007.
